    2026-2027 Student Transportation Change

  • Request for Transportation for students that reside within the Walk Zone for their school. We will review all requests at the end of 2 full weeks of school, and can add students based on space on the bus, and the student utilizing an existing bus stop. The Transportation Department will start contacting parents the week of September 7th, 2026 regarding availability.

  • Request for Transportation for students that are Open Enrolled into the Kent City School District.   • This form is for Kent parents that have students attending an eligible* non-public school, and are looking for reimbursement for transporting their own students.

    * Eligibility for transportation payment: 
    The school where the student attends must be less than thirty minutes away in a school bus on a regular school day from the Kent City School building where the student normally would attend.

Employment

We are looking for bus drivers and bus aides.

School Bus Driver
A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is recommended but not required.  We can train you to get you a Class B CDL with School Bus and Passenger endorsements.  We will pay for your pre-employment physical & drug test, initial background check, and School Bus Driver class, as well as your Temporary CDL and initial CDL license.  We will provide a school bus and a trainer for training, and pay you an hourly rate of $13.00 for training. If you have a student in our school district, we will work with you to get them to school, and get them to you at the garage at the end of the afternoon run, if needed.

Hourly Rate:  $20.00
Regular drivers start at over $23.00/hour. 

School Bus Aide - Substitute
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma
Criminal background check or investigation that is free of violations that prohibit public school employment.
Ability to physically manage students with disabilities, if needed.
Demonstrates maturity and the ability to work with students and their families.
