Welcome to the Office of Instructional Programs

Welcome to the Office of Instructional Programs! Through this office, along with the Office of Data Analysis (Jeremy Bish, Coordinator) and the Office of Student Services (Dr. Justin Gates, Director), we support and facilitate curriculum, instruction, assessment, and continuous improvement across Kent City Schools.

The Director of Instructional Programs provides leadership for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning across Kent City Schools. The position leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a coherent PK–12 curriculum aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and district priorities while ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and content areas.

Working collaboratively with principals, teacher leaders, and district staff, the Director supports high-quality instructional practices, coordinates district assessment systems, promotes data-informed decision-making, and oversees professional learning that strengthens teaching and learning. The position also provides oversight for core academic programs, intervention and enrichment services, gifted education, career and technical education (CTE), instructional technology, and curriculum-related grants.

In addition, the Director ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, facilitates curriculum adoption and instructional material review cycles, manages the district's Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) and other instructional initiatives, and partners with educators, families, and community stakeholders to advance student achievement and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the district.
