Hello Riders! This is Mr. Childers with a quick announcement. Roosevelt is starting something brand new this year known as Start with Hello Week. This is a part of the Sandy Hook Promise. This week was started by the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook School shootings. The Sandy Hook shootings took place in Newtown, Connecticut back in 2012. Tragically 20 elementary school students and 6 teachers and staff members lost their lives during this mass shooting. Numerous healthcare professionals cited severe mental health issues within the shooter. This week is all about making connections, making students feel belonged, and combating mental health issues. Each day will have a different theme starting with today which is meet and greet Monday. Take time out of your day today to say hello to someone you may not know. Create a connection and special things can happen! Tomorrow will be Thankful Tuesday. In the library there will be sticky notes and thank you cards that you can write to give someone a positive note of gratitude. Be the change and Start with Hello Riders! Have a great day!

And now for some homecoming news: Homecoming planning is underway and we need YOU to help plan and create an evening in “The Enchanted Garden”. Join us at Homecoming Works on Thursday at 6:00 pm in Room 133. Students wanting to attend Homecoming MUST have a completed emergency medical authorization form on Final Forms in order to buy tickets. Check with your parents and guardians to make sure yours is ready to go. Any student bringing a guest from another school to the TRHS homecoming must turn in a completed guest form, signed by you, your guest, and parents BEFORE you can buy your tickets. Forms are available in the Activities Office. Today is the second day for Homecoming Court nominations. The ballot is posted in your Google Classrooms and was also sent to your school email as a Final Forms email. Take a moment to nominate students for the 2023 Homecoming Court. Are you interested in being in the 2023 Homecoming Parade and Fair? Talk to your advisors or coaches to see if they would be interested. If so, grab a form in the Activities Office and drop the form off in room 172 (Mrs. Larkin’s)!

Any student wishing to have their name correctly recorded in TRHS publications, such as the yearbook, Colonel, or other media should pick up a name change request form from the Activities Office or the digital media classroom, room 138. The form is also available on the Roosevelt website on the Student page. This is an effort to end the deadnaming of students in our school publications. Please see the digital media teacher, Mr. Fowler, with any questions.

A few reminders about Parking Permits – Mrs. D’Sidocky is distributing permits during lunches. If you are driving and parking on campus, you must have a parking permit. If you are a Roosevelt student, your parent or guardian has to log on to Final forms and answer YES that you will be driving to school and complete the required information. After they answer yes, you will also have to login to your student account on final forms and sign the form. The fee this year is 52.50. There are designated spots for handicap, visitors, cosmetology patrons and silent auction. DO NOT park in those spots without a proper permit or you will be ticketed. When the front lot becomes full, please remember to use the stadium lot. If you are a CTE student from another school in the compact, please see the CTE office in room 171 and pick up the form for a parking permit, you will also return that same form to Mrs. Creamer in the CTE office. You will have to have a Kent permit to avoid being ticketed. Drive Safely Rough Riders

This is a reminder that students are NOT to visit Stanton after school. If you are a bus rider, you need to catch the bus at Roosevelt, not Stanton.
