To help you have a safe and fun event, remember these tips! • Have established plans for the night. • Let someone know where you are, and where you are going to be. • Charge your phone. • Buckle up. • STAY SOBER/STAY ALERT. • Wear your mask and practice Covid Protocols You don’t want to wake up and not remember the night, find yourself a meme, or trending. Make it a weekend to remember, not one to forget!

National Voter Registration Day is Tuesday, September 28th. Are you 18 years or older? Are you interested in being an active citizen? YES? Voter registration will be available Tuesday, Sept. 28th during lunch periods in the concession stand.

Homecoming Court Announcement 2021! Student Council would like to thank everyone who voted for the homecoming court. The following students have been selected for the 2021 Homecoming Court: The Freshman Attendants are: Madeline Booher and Theo Bednar. The Sophomore Attendants are: Emily Derry and Matthew McCann. The Junior Attendants are: Samantha Gallagher and Jackson Fankhauser. Senior Candidates for Homecoming QUEEN are: Paige Thompson, Rachel Booher, Samantha Baron, Theoren Brown, Skylar Benedik. Senior Candidates for Homecoming KING are: Ethan Jenkins, ,Ezra Turner, Luke Jenkins, Brendan Cramer, Jeremy Schuch. Congratulations to our 2021 Homecoming Court! All students can vote for the Homecoming King and Queen on Thursday, September 23, and Friday, September 24. The king and queen crowning will take place during halftime at the football game Friday night.

The organization, Safeatlast reported statistics that only 44% of teenagers would speak up if someone's manner of driving scared them. Teens not feeling confident to talk when they feel endangered by the driver is a serious problem. What would you do? Would you speak out? Don’t joke about, avoid, or neglect this conversation--it may save lives. Homecoming 2021, arrive alive and have big fun!

Here at Roosevelt, we promote and practice “The Rough Rider Way” which has two letter “R’s” in it. One “R” stands for RESPECT and the other “R” stands for RESPONSIBILITY. Did you know that teenagers are 2.5 times more likely to show risky behavior in traffic if there is someone else riding with them? Riders, show RESPECT for yourself and be RESPONSIBLE for the people you are driving by not engaging in risky behaviors like: driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, not wearing seatbelts, taking selfies, texting, and using the phone while driving. #arrivealive

This is a great way to ask questions and start to know what college is the right fit for you. Today @ 12:40 pm we have Stark State College. Come to the quiet space in the library to know more. Riders, did you know... • That leading cause of teen deaths and disabilities is motor vehicle crashes? • That EVERYDAY on average, 11 teenagers get killed due to texting and driving? • That 56% of teenagers admit to talking on the phone while texting? • That nighttime and weekend driving are one of the leading cause of teenage fatalities? Those are some disturbing facts, but there is some good news. Drunk driving fatalities among teens have decreased by 81% since 1982! Buckle up, be mindful when you drive, and wait or pull over if you want to text.

Next week begins the week of Homecoming 2021! We for sure, NEED and WANT to see our friends and to have some fun while doing it. We know we need to practice our Covid protocols, but we also need to make sure that we make good decisions and stay safe in other areas too. So, next week, there will be some morning announcements to give us some things to think about as we get ready for the Homecoming Football game, and the Homecoming dance. Yeah, we know this one is going to look and feel a little different, but we’re going to make sure it “hits different” too! So listen up, stay tuned,, and stay safe RIDERS!
