He is the cousin of long-time Cleveland Anchorman and News Correspondent, Leon Bibb. Give up? Okay, well his name is Justin Bibb. He assumed office on January 3, 2022 and he is only 34 years old! Hey Seniors---How would you like a piece of over $80,000? That's how much money is being offered in local scholarships to our graduating seniors. There are scholarships available for aspiring teachers, lawyers, and those going into the STEM fields. Did you attend elementary school at Holden, Longcoy or Walls? If so, make sure you apply for those scholarships. Just remember, you don't have a chance if you don't apply.

Congratulations to our Rough Rider boys basketball team who beat Ellet last night in their sectional semi-final game by a score of 78-59. The Rough Rider boys were led by Desmeal Leigh with 15 points and 9 rebounds, Kevin Ina with 14 points, and Jayden Reynolds with 8 points and 9 assists. The boys will now travel Saturday night to Green for their Sectional Final contest against the Bulldogs. Great job boys! Go Riders!

Students! There are parking spots in the front of the student parking lot that have signs that say "Reserved for Silent Auction Winner" Those parking spots are reserved and you CANNOT park there unless you have a special permit. Even if you see the space isn't being used, you cannot park there because the student assigned to the parking spot may have FLEX and will use the spot throughout the day. Again, do not park in the Reserved for Silent Auction Winner spots, there are still spots available in the Stadium parking lot and you may park there.

The Engineering Academy had three teams place 4th, 3rd, and 1st place in the Summit County Engineer’s Annual Miniature Bridge Building Contest. 4th place team members are Ryan Noble, Evan Legnani and Ricky Legg. 3rd place team members are Maxwell Wright, Lorena Villareal and Emilee Elliott. And the 1st place team is Kaeden Cyc, Carter Jagger and Sam Bortnick. Congratulations to them all!

This is a reminder that the Junior class will be taking the ACT, a state mandated test, this Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Classes for 9, 10 and 11 grade students will be asynchronous. Which means that Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors will be working from home that same day, Tuesday March 1, 2022. Junior students are expected to be at school by 7:30 am. Students are able to ride the bus to school and get breakfast as on a typical school day. Grab and go lunches will be available once testing is complete for students who requested them . Two opportunities to ride the bus home have been arranged, leaving at 12:45 pm and 2:29 pm. Students should bring calculators and number two pencils. Please encourage your Junior to come rested, nourished and prepared to do their best.

The Boys and Girls Bowling Teams both competed in the Sectional Tournament over the weekend. Both teams bowled well but in the end only seniors Tara Sefchick and Matt Richards made it out and on to the Districts. Tara led the way for the girls with a 548 series and Matt led the boys with a 720 series. Good luck at Districts and keep it rolling!

Congratulations to the Swimmers this weekend having an amazing meet at Cleveland State. Congrats to Justin Justin Barzellato breaking his own 100 break stroke record and breaking the 200 IM record that has been recorded since the 90’s. Great job to all the swimmers reaching their PR’s and representing your Rough Riders with pride.
