It's time to begin the spring elections process at TRHS! In order to run for Class Office, Student Council President, or Student Council Representative (2 positions per class), for the 2022-23 school year, please read through the Spring Elections 2022 Information Packet. Elections will be in the format of a blind election in which students will read/hear the information candidates include but will not know candidates by name during the election process and voting. This is to help ensure a more equitable election process. To keep the integrity of the process, it is important that candidates maintain their anonymity throughout the election timeline. Any violation of that process could result in being removed as a candidate.
All candidates will need to:
Join the Student Council 2021-22 Google Classroom -- CODE ixxft3r
Understand the Blind Election Format (explained above).
Read through all of the ELECTIONS INFORMATION and note important dates.
Complete the SELF-NOMINATION FORM (make a copy first) in the Student Council 2021-22 Google Classroom no later than Wednesday, April 20, by 3:00 p.m.
Submit a SPEECH COPY* (officer positions only) in the Student Council 2020-21 Google Classroom no later than Friday, April 22, by 3:00 p.m. Read Speech Writing Tips for ideas on creating a memorable speech.
Watch the ELECTIONS PROMOTION/TRAINING VIDEO (to be posted in the StuCo Google Classroom by April 11, 2022) to be eligible to run for class officer and/or Student Council Representative.
Also, pay careful attention to the attached TRHS Elections Policy.* You may only serve in ONE MAJOR OFFICE POSITION (president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, editor) each school year.
Being a Class Officer, Student Council President, and/or Student Council Representative is a big responsibility that takes a lot of time, commitment, and dedication. You are expected to participate in all class meetings and events. As Student Council President, the responsibilities also include keeping the whole student body in mind. Likewise, you are expected to attend ALL Student Council events. Please take this into consideration when making your choice to run for these positions.
Thank you for running. Good Luck!
*NOTE: For the speeches, you do not need to state your name, just the position for which you are running. There will be no need for campaigning or campaign signs. Candidates who do not follow the blind voting guidelines risk losing candidacy. Administration reserves the right to disqualify any candidate in poor academic/behavioral standing or they do not appropriately represent the school community.
