Karen Rumley is the Director of Instructional Program with the Kent City Schools where she coordinates curriculum initiatives and provides professional development to support student learning across the district. She also serves as the testing coordinator, federal grants coordinator, and the coordinator of gifted services.
Karen is formerly a curriculum consultant with the Summit County Educational Service Center, specializing in gifted services and programming as well as secondary English language arts and social studies. For fourteen years, she taught various classes in the Social Studies department at Cuyahoga Falls High School, including Advanced Placement and Honors courses. After receiving her Master’s in Education from the University of Akron, Karen added a gifted endorsement to her license and began coordinating the district gifted program, and then serving as Coordinator of Teaching and Learning/ Gifted Services for the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools.
She has been an active participant on the Ohio Department of Education Social Studies Network of Regional Leaders, has presented at numerous state and national conferences and is the current president of the Ohio Association for Gifted Children.
